Our main goal when restoring the vineyard and winery has always been to recreate as closely as possible the type of dwellings and vineyard plantings that would have been found in the late 1700’s.
Our research showed that Kentucky laws required that a structure had to be placed on any purchased lot of property. Laws dictated that structures had to be built of log, brick or stone and had to be at least 16’ x 16’. Since Kentucky had an abundance of timber, the buildings were usually hand-hewn log structures.
Our winery closely resembles what would have been found here during that period, but with many of the conveniences we enjoy today.
